Your Story Isn't Over

"The stories we love can help us heal from our real-life experiences."

Your favourite games, books, films, and shows aren't distractions. They're a vocabulary. A map. A mirror that shows you things about yourself that direct conversation sometimes can't reach.

At Misty Mountains Counseling, we use the stories you love as tools within talk therapy — exploring what they illuminate about your own hero's journey, where it's stalled, and how to write the next chapter.

How Storytelling Therapy Works

01

You bring your story

Your favourite games, books, films — whatever worlds you've escaped into. These aren't distractions from your real life. They're keys to it.

02

We find the connection

Together, we explore what these stories mean to you, what they illuminate about your own hero's journey, and where it's stalled.

03

You rewrite the chapter

Using psychodynamic approaches alongside your cultural touchstones, we work toward the fuller version of yourself you're capable of being.

Who I Work With

I work with adults 18 and up in Colorado and North Carolina. I prioritise working with folks from marginalised backgrounds, including the queer and transgender community.

If you've spent your life feeling more understood by fictional characters than by real ones — if you cried at a game ending, found the language for your grief in a novel, or felt the pull of a story that knew exactly what you were going through — you're in the right place.

If you feel like your Hero's Journey has stalled, if you feel like you could be a fuller version of yourself, and if you're ready to dig into the deep stuff, please reach out.

Hi, I'm Elizabeth.

I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Colorado and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina. I work from a psychodynamic perspective — which means I'm genuinely interested in your story: where you've been, how it shaped you, and what it means for where you are now.

I prioritise working with queer and transgender folks and people from marginalised backgrounds. I engage in white accountability work and commit to anti-racism and decolonising therapy — not as buzzwords, but as a practice that informs how I show up in every session.

Now accepting new telehealth clients in Colorado and North Carolina. In-person sessions starting June 2026. Read my full story →
